Circle of Stars
Circus: Latin root meaning 'circle' or 'ring’. Circus is a slice of Americana culture and lifestyle.
The enchantment I feel being at a circus has inspired my current project, Circle of Stars; a celebration of the art of circus and its performers.
The rich history goes back to the 18th century, however numerous acts date back further. Today, with many circuses not having animals under the big top, they now rely more on the exceptional talent of performing artists; many of whom are part of generations of circus performers as a family tradition.
I am intrigued by the history and the artists that perform in this ancient art form. I hope to capture and preserve some of its magic through my lens.
